Irie Foundation Allapattah Music and Literacy Center Quarter 1 Student Spotlight Award

October 22nd, 2015
The Motivational Edge, in partnership with the Irie Foundation, is pleased to award Dayris Manon with the Irie Foundation Allapattah Music and Literacy Center Quarter 1 Student Spotlight Award. Dayris is an Honor Roll student at Shenandoah Middle School and attends the IFAMLC, where she has been working with mentor, musician and artist, Ed King. With the help of King, Dayris has shown consistent improvement on drums, progressively working on higher degrees of musical pieces.  She also excels in the arts and works closely with Marcy Suarez.  Dayris is one of two students from ME who have been selected to work with KIND Healthy Snacks and Miami-based artist, Nate Dee on a special Art Basel mural project, to be unveiled on Saturday, December 5th at the #ichooseart pop-up event.

Aside from being awarded with this quarters Student Spotlight, the Irie Foundation surprised Dayris with a laptop so that she may continue to excel in her education, compose her own drumbeats and start building her art portfolio.

“Dayris was one of the first students at the IF AMLC back in 2012.  I remember her being a shy and timid elementary school student and now she has grown into a confident and talented teenager ready to take on anything that comes her way. I am extremely proud of her!” – Ian Welsch, CEO, The Motivational Edge
