The Motivational Edge | The Leading Arts-Based Youth Development Agency in Florida

Engage. Educate. Empower.

Solutions-Focused Programming

This multidisciplinary program offers youth a safe outlet for healing and growth through positive self-expression. Creative writing, songwriting, and Lyrical Expression exercises equip youth with tools for personal reflection and interpersonal communication, while expanding academic skills, such as, literacy and vocabulary.

Additionally, youth have the opportunity to learn foundational elements of audio recording while working with our team of Teaching Artists to compose original songs based on their writings.

Our new Allapattah Campus is a safe, supportive environment designed to celebrate students’ achievements and unleash their imaginations!

This state-of-the-art, multipurpose creative space allows youth to delve into our Arts, Technology, and Sports & Wellness programming. The Campus features an audio-visual technology space, where youth can explore audio and visual production, graphic design, coding and even 3-D printing; a convertible art studio/gallery, perfect for hosting youth exhibitions and community events; indoor and outdoor spaces for physical activity and play, including dance, yoga, martial arts, and team sports; and so much more!

Led by trained coaches as well as professional athletes, our newest program empowers youth to participate in a wide range of physical activities that are fun, engaging, challenging and rewarding. The Motivational Edge combines dance, martial arts, yoga and team sports with a nutrition education curriculum. The goal of this program is to encourage youth to develop enthusiasm for fitness and a healthy lifestyle.

Encompassing a broad cross-section of the visual arts, this program engages with contemporary media such as street art and illustration, as well as foundational techniques and traditional projects. Youth are invited to express themselves creatively while refining their skills in various artistic media and unleashing their imaginations!

Interactive art activities are often accompanied by written and verbal assignments, helping youth describe their creative works and present to peers while building literacy skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence.

OUR PARTNERS

  • Project GOLD has collaborated with The Motivational Edge for the last 3 years to bring lyrical expressions as well as internships and dance expression to girls that are at risk or have been verified victims of sexual exploitation. Our collaboration has allowed the girls we serve to feel empowered to express their thoughts, feelings and emotions in a healing and safe environment. The girls and staff at Project GOLD are grateful for the incredible work and dedication that the team at The Motivational Edge has provided to our members and we look forward to our continued partnership!

  • The Motivational Edge helps students authentically express themselves. Being able to create music in Creole has been the highlight of the summer! ME’s variety of programming has really enriched our summer camp activities. Through its Audio Recording and Music Production program, our students have not only gained a foundation in music creation, but have found a healthy and lasting way to cope with life’s challenges.

  • This stellar creative youth development program in association with Berklee College of Music, and specifically the Berklee City Music Network, is of mutual benefit. Recently, myself and another staff member conducted a site visit at ME. On this visit we interviewed teachers and students and made observations about the facility. This close examination of our Network partners takes place every two to three years. Motivational Edge scored very well. We continue to be excited about our partnership with Motivational Edge!

  • The Motivational Edge has been impacting residential group home providers in the Suncoast Region since February 2016 after they initially presented what Motivational Edge is and how the program would benefit providers in the region. After the initial meeting took place in February 2016, two residential group home providers initiated services with Motivational Edge. Both facilities continue to use Motivational Edge as a therapeutic service.
