2025 Spring Student Showcase

May, 2025

Our recent Student Showcase was a vibrant and heartwarming celebration of the creativity and hard work of our students and teaching artists. Hosted by Mr. Serum, the evening featured original music, dance, poetry, and visual art from students across all age groups with over 25–30 performers and 40–50 student artworks on display in the art gallery!

The Show Highlights:

  • The evening opened with an energizing drum circle led by Mr. Rayko and Ms. Yamila featuring a student ensemble called The Elementals.

  • Young poet Miley kicked off the lyrical portion with a charming haiku about summer.

  • Myles and Lianah (elementary students) followed with “Summer Day”, a soulful original duet with guitar production by Mr. Anthony.

  • Myles also performed his upbeat solo anthem “Party of the Night”, showcasing his impressive vocal range.

  • High school student Mya brought depth and reflection with her original rap “Change Your Mind”, offering insight into her personal journey.

  • A group of elementary dancers lit up the stage with a high-energy routine to “Please Don’t Stop the Music”, choreographed by Ms. Kalianny: a former Motivational Edge student turned teaching artist.

  • Steven, from the TAP program, delivered a heartfelt solo guitar piece “All The Fallen Stars For You”, a touching tribute to his mother.

  • Rising emcee Iker performed his original hip-hop track “I Love Life”, celebrating gratitude and self-love.

  • He was later joined by Mr. Serum for a crowd-hyping performance of “Next to Shine”, proving Iker’s ability to move the crowd like a true MC.

  • The Honey Bees, a dance group of elementary and middle school students, performed a beautiful ancestral homage to “Tierra” by Enkele, dressed in vibrant skirts and headbands.

  • The final vocal performance of the evening came from Amy, who captivated the audience with a jazz-infused cover of Laufey’s “From the Start”, accompanied by Mr. Malcolm on guitar.

The night ended where it began with The Elementals returning for one last drum circle led by Mr. Rayko and Ms. Yami, closing the evening in joyful rhythm and unity.

Can’t Forget the Art!
Alongside the live performances, our student art gallery showcased pieces from 40–50 students, adding color and creativity to the space and highlighting the talent across our programs.

Special thanks to Mr. Anthony on sound/DJ, all our teaching artists, and of course, our amazing students for a night we won’t soon forget.
