Palm Tree Nursery In Indian River County
April 29th, 2023
We are proud to announce that we have purchased a palm tree farm/nursery in Indian River County! The initiative will provide jobs and training opportunities for teens and young adults to learn transferable skills or to start careers in landscaping, horticulture and more. The property will also host homeschool students and others who can benefit from what it has to offer. In fact, we already have two teenagers working on the property with a focus on planting and maintaining the trees to marketing and selling them. The farm will be specializing in Phoenix sylvestris, also known as the wild date palm or silver date palm. They are tall, single-stemmed palms that can grow up to 30 meters in height, and are commonly used as an ornamental plant in landscaping and construction. The property will also provide sustainable revenue through the sale of palm trees, supporting our organization’s programming in Indian River County. We have over 200 palm trees for people to choose from – individual trees ranging from 3 to 15 feet tall as well as gorgeous pairings and even mature sets of three palm trees. Just check out the photos! Many of the pictures you see here were taken by Lily, an 18-year-old with a talent for photography and a strong work ethic. She has been working hard on the property and it shows! We’re thrilled to be making a positive impact in the community while also creating a sustainable future for our organization. Come visit our beautiful property, pick a tree and know your purchase is helping to educate and move young lives forward!
